Sample Development
At SiATEX Global, we understand the critical role that sample development plays in the apparel industry. Since our inception in 1987, we have prioritized the creation of high-quality samples tailored to our customers’ requirements. Sampling is a crucial pre-production process, as buyers typically place orders only after evaluating the quality of the samples. The sample development process varies depending on the buyer’s specifications and the type of garment involved. In this section, we will delve into the various types of garment samples we provide and the purposes they serve.
Types of Garment Samples
Development Sample
A development sample is the initial prototype created based on the customer’s design, tech-pack, or sample. It helps in visualizing the final product and making necessary adjustments before proceeding to bulk production.
Proto Sample
Proto samples are early versions of the garment that allow both the manufacturer and the buyer to assess the design and fit. These samples are crucial for identifying any issues early in the development process.
Fit Sample
Fit samples are developed to check the fitting and sizing of the garment. These samples ensure that the final product meets the buyer’s size specifications and provides the desired fit.
Size Set Sample
Size set samples are a complete set of garments in all sizes that will be produced. These samples help in verifying the fit and sizing across different sizes, ensuring consistency.
Strike-Off Sample
Strike-off samples are small swatches of fabric that are dyed or printed to match the buyer’s color and pattern requirements. These samples are essential for approving the color and print before bulk production.
Counter Sample
Counter samples are developed by the manufacturer to match the buyer’s original sample. These samples are used to demonstrate the manufacturer’s capability to replicate the design accurately.
Ad or Photo Shoot Sample
These samples are created for marketing purposes, such as advertisements or photo shoots. They are usually produced in a short time frame and need to be of the highest quality to showcase the garment effectively.
Salesman/Marketing/Showroom Sample
These samples are used by sales representatives to showcase the garment to potential buyers. They are critical for generating interest and securing orders.
Garment Performance Test (GPT) Sample
GPT samples undergo various tests to assess the garment’s performance, such as durability, colorfastness, and shrinkage. These samples ensure that the final product meets quality standards.
Pre-Production (PP) Sample
PP samples are the final prototypes created before bulk production. They incorporate all the revisions and approvals from previous samples and serve as a reference for the production team.
Wash Sample
Wash samples are garments that have undergone the intended washing process to check for any changes in appearance, size, or quality. These samples help in ensuring that the garment maintains its integrity after washing.
Top of Production (TOP) Sample
TOP samples are taken from the initial bulk production run. They are used to verify that the production process is consistent with the approved PP sample.
Shipment Sample
Shipment samples are taken from the finished bulk production and sent to the buyer for final approval before shipment. These samples ensure that the final product meets all the buyer’s requirements.
Purpose of Sampling
Judging Production Capabilities
Sampling allows the buyer to assess the manufacturer’s production capabilities. By evaluating the quality of the samples, buyers can determine if the manufacturer can meet their standards and requirements.
Making Revisions
Samples provide a means for making revisions in the bulk production process. They help in identifying any issues or improvements needed before proceeding to mass production, ensuring that the final product is flawless.
Estimating Thread and Fabric Consumption
The sampling process enables the manufacturer to estimate the thread and fabric consumption accurately. This information is crucial for developing cost quotations and ensuring that the production process is cost-effective.
Demonstrating Exporter Potential
Samples allow the buyer to gauge the potential of an exporter. High-quality samples demonstrate the manufacturer’s expertise and reliability, building trust and confidence in the buyer.
